First-Ever Princess Players Championship to Offer More Than
$100,000 in Prize Money and 18 Free Cruises

 

Players Can Compete in Onboard Slot, Blackjack and Texas Hold'em Poker Tournaments

 

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (January 30, 2008) - Casino fans aboard seven Princess cruises in 2008 will have the opportunity to compete in the first-ever Princess Players Championship - a series of slot, blackjack and Texas Hold 'em poker tournaments. More than $100,000 in cash prizes plus 18 free cruises will be awarded to winners during the events, which start in May and culminate in a Grand Finale event aboard Crown Princess in November.

The six preliminary Princess Players Championship cruises will each host a slot, blackjack, and Texas Hold'em Poker tournament. First-place winners in each slot and blackjack tournament receive a cash prize of $3,000 plus a complimentary cruise to participate in the Grand Finale event sailing, with accommodations for two in a balcony stateroom aboard Crown Princess on November 30. Slot and blackjack Grand Finale players will compete for a $10,000 grand prize, while the Texas Hold'em Poker tournament offers the winner a coveted opportunity to play at the exclusive 2009 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas - including travel expenses and free entry valued at more than $10,000.

May 7-10 - Diamond Princess, Pacific Coastal - Los Angeles to Vancouver

June 1-8 - Star Princess, Alaska Inside Passage - Roundtrip from Seattle

July 10-19 - Caribbean Princess, Eastern Caribbean - Roundtrip from New York

September 15-18 - Coral Princess, Pacific Coastal - Vancouver to Los Angeles

October 5-12 - Crown Princess, Eastern Caribbean - Roundtrip from Ft. Lauderdale

Grand Finale - November 30 - December 7 - Crown Princess, Eastern Caribbean - roundtrip from Ft. Lauderdale

 

To participate in the Princess Players Championship, passengers simply book any of the tournament sailings through a travel agent or Princess reservations and then register for the tournaments of their choice while on board. Entry fees of $100 ($200 for Grand Finale) for slot and blackjack tournaments or $150 ($300 for Grand Finale) for poker competitions are also payable on board.

The Princess Players Club offers benefits for player at every level of experience, including rewards for playing slots, establishing credit and setting betting limits for high rollers. Carnival PokerPro Challenge to Offer $250,000 in Prizes

Carnival Cruise Lines is hosting its 2008 Carnival PokerPro Challenge, a series of No Limit Texas Hold 'em poker satellite tournaments taking place on dozens of voyages. The tournaments will occur on select cruises now through June 30, with winners of the preliminary tournaments facing off for a cash prize of $45,000 in the Grand Final Playoff during the Carnival Fantasy's Oct. 4 voyage. Tournaments will be played on recently installed state-of-the-art PokerPro tables, which clearly and quickly display players' commitments and table stakes, pot amount and community cards. PokerPro tables also identify the winners at the end of each hand and immediately add the winnings to the player's table stakes. First place winners of the preliminary tournaments will win $750, plus entry to the Grand Final Playoff

Finalists booking their Grand Final Playoff cruise will receive an early booking bonus of $100, redeemable on board during the cruise, if they book within one month of qualifying. Entry fee and buy-in for up to 10 players is $150 each, and rake fees are $15 per entry. Tournaments will be held on all voyages on the following ships through June 30, with limited exceptions, as noted: Carnival Pride, excluding June 15 sailing; Carnival Spirit; Carnival Conquest; Carnival Legend; Carnival Glory, excluding May 10 sailing; Carnival Valor; Carnival Liberty; Carnival Fascination; Carnival Victory; and Carnival Miracle, excluding the April 23 sailing.
